Can't Sleep

It is 12:45 a.m. and I cannot sleep.  Last week Friday, January 15, 2010, I received a phone call from Dr. Hoberman informing me that the biopsy she had taken of a lump in my breast was indeed showing signs of cancer.  This past Tuesday, I had an MRI and yesterday Randy and I met with Dr. Hoberman to review all results and determine what needs to be done next.

What we know at this point is that it is labeled DCIL which basically means it started in a milk duct.  The size of the tumor is approximately 2.5 cm wide.  The MRI is indicating that some cancer cells may be spreading to more like 4 cm out.  The first step in dealing with this is surgery.  I want the thing out of me, so I am hoping for as early as next week Thursday, January 28.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. -Matthew 6:34

  2. I'm sure that it will seem like an eternity until next Thursday. Hank and I are praying for you and your family as you start on this long journey. Just remember, you are not alone.

  3. Robin - the first time I met my nurse she said "welcome to the club that no one wants to join". I welcome you with sadness to this club. I found your blog through the comment you left on Amy's blog. I was actually going to call you and tell you about her. She will be a great person for you to talk to. You two can "fight like a girl" together. I just picked up my t-shirt today and it is so cool. I realize I don't have the same type of cancer as you but in my book cancer is cancer (and it stinks!) so please feel free to call me or email me anytime you need to talk to someone else who has "been there, done that".

Jeremiah 29:11 has brought me a lot of comfort during my journey ~

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

  4. Robin--My prayers are with you and are very specific--that God's peace would surround you, and the rest of your family, during this time of uncertainty. That you would feel His arms around you during the surgery and the treatment. That your mind would not worry about school!! Put everything in God's care!
