Normal Day

Today felt somewhat normal!  The day started with a workout at MVP.  I felt great during the workout.  I got finished and wondered how there could possibly be anything wrong with me physically.  I feel fine!  Later in the day I was reminded that cancer is SNEAKY!

This afternoon we had a great fifth grade spelling bee.  I was so proud of all of the participants.

After school, a friend who is currently fighting cancer was kind enough to meet me for a visit after school.  We talked and talked and I couldn't believe it when I walked out of Wendy's and it was still light out at 5:45.  Spring is just around the corner, right?  Thanks for spending that time with me, friend!

At home, life goes on as normal.  Quick dinner, homework, and Kylie is off to the High School basketball game.  Meanwhile, the rest of us are home cheering for MSU over Michigan.

Thanks for reading my blog.  I enjoy reading your comments.  A simple "hi"makes me smile.  I have printed out a whole bunch of little pink ribbon bookmarks.  If you send me a bible verse that will give me encouragement through this, I write your name and the specific verse on one and put it in my bible.

That's it for tonight.  Hoping for a good night of sleep and a productive day at Hamilton Elementary tomorrow.

Go State!

  1. Dear Robin,

I'm so glad you are feeling normal!! You can not let this take you over, instead you must take charge. I know this is your strong suit anyway!!!

I have thought of you so often when doing my devotions. Here is a verse I came across on Sunday as I was reading, Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. I know I still need to work on the "fear" issue from time to time, but I sure am glad God is with me and I know he is with you, too!!

I hope you rest well tonight! Enjoy those great 5th graders tomorrow. They must be a great source of "distraction"!!

    Love and Prayers!
    Corla :)

  3. I love normal days!! I completely understand what you mean about feeling fine and wondering how cancer can be in your body. It is a very, very sneaky disease.

When the chemo would leave me feeling useless and it seemed like I couldn't do anything other than lay around the verse Psalm 46:10 was very comforting to me ~ "Be still, and know that I am God". It reminded me that even though I had to be still He was still fighting for me.

Bookmarks with scripture is a great idea! Cancer can mentally knock you down as well and the perfect way to fight that is to fill your head with scripture.

  4. Robin,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and will continue to be as you have surgery and then recuperate!!! I pray that surgery goes well and that they are able to remove all the cancer and you have a fast recovery and are able to once again join your students and staff. A verse that has given me much peace is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Take care and know many are praying for you, Cindy Schipper

It's Mikaela!! I can't belive you have cancer. I realy don't like the "c" word. I realy miss you this year, but I'm having a great time in middle school. I've heard your daughter mention a few times on the intercom. I realy miss your funny stories, jokes, pranks, and songs. I'm sure you will have your nurses laughing. I will be praying for you. Well got to go do some homework. Take care! Bye!

    Robin,
I am praying for you daily!! When my mom's leg broke because of her cancer (on Jan. 1) she spent many days in extreme pain. Psalm 33: 20-22 was one of the verses that we prayed throughout the ordeal. I will continue to pray for you and will especially be thinking of you on your surgery day. Psalm 33: 20-22 "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you."

  10. Robin,
We just wanted to send you our love and prayers. When praying for you at dinner, Zane wanted to know why you were having surgery..we explained that sometimes medicine takes away sickness and other times we have to have surgery to get better. He wanted to know if he was going to get to play with your hospital bed like he did mine after my surgery! I told him probably not this time! We will be thinking of you tomorrow and in the days ahead...we love you!

I have been thinking of you and lifting you up in prayer daily since i heard the news of your cancer diagnosis. This coming just one week after we found out that Chuck's sister, Marla, received a diagnosis of breast cancer. God promises to never leave us and my prayer for you is that you feel his presence all the time. That He will walk beside you and keep you safe with His loving arms. When you feel you can't go on, He will carry you!
    Love and prayers,
    Chris
